“The kick-off of the 125th anniversary is here,” Peter “Bubba” Fanelli, Village of Larchmont Trustee and Larchmont 125 board member said. “The first Larchmont Day celebration will be filled with fun and exciting activities for the whole family. Do not miss this party.”
Beginning at 10:30 a.m., clergy from Larchmont’s houses of worship will hold an interfaith service at St. Augustine’s Church. Following the service, a “coffee house” will be open in the church cafeteria. At noon, Larchmont native Kevin O’Keefe will perform his hilarious, fun-for-all-ages one-man show, “Circus Minimus” in St. Augustine’s Msgr. Kenny Hall. Come Home to Larchmont, a group of Larchmonters who grew up in the village during the 1960s and 70s organized the morning’s activities.
From 1:00-4:00 p.m., Larchmont Avenue, from Boston Post Road to Cherry Avenue, will transform for the inaugural Larchmont Day Street Festival with Big Trucks (co-sponsored by the Larchmont Public Library), music, dancing, games, prizes, food and fun. The contests include hula-hoop, yo-yo, bubble gum blowing, limbo, pie baking and pie eating. On hand will be some of Westchester’s best food trucks including Walter’s Hot Dogs, recently named the Best Hot Dog in the Tri-State area. The Larchmont 125 Celebration Committee organized the Larchmont Day Street Festival in collaboration with Celebrate Larchmont, Inc.
Alongside the street festival, the 13th Annual Larchmont Arts Festival featuring original artwork, live music, children’s activities, more food and fun will take place in Constitution Park from 1:00-5:00 p.m. The Village of Larchmont Arts Council organized the Arts Festival.
Larchmont 125 Founders will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at The Bevan House, an iconic Larchmont Manor location, as a thank you for making the 125th festivities possible. The cocktail party will be followed at 7:00 p.m. by a dinner dance at the Larchmont Shore Club.
All during the month of September, visitors to the Larchmont Public Library can view “Larchmont: The Way We Were – Celebrating 125 Years in the Village of Larchmont,” photos from Larchmont’s past. The Larchmont Historical Society and the library jointly mounted the free exhibit in the Oresman Gallery. The library’s hours are Monday and Thursday 9am to 9pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 9am to 5pm.

About Larchmont 125:
On September 22, 1891, the Larchmont Manor Company was dissolved and the community was officially incorporated as the Village of Larchmont. To mark this momentous occasion, the Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees established a quasquicentennial celebration coordination committee, Larchmont 125, comprised of Larchmont area residents with ties to the local businesses, historical, educational, and cultural communities. The committee will plan, promote, and produce signature events which will be paid for by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization “Celebrate Larchmont, Inc.” through fundraising activities, sponsorships, donations, concessions, and commemorative merchandise sales. Information about the upcoming festivities can be found athttp://Larchmont125.org.
